We Did It !!
On Tuesday, August 14, the UNM Board of Regents and the Bernalillo County Commission approved a 15 year conservation easement for the North UNM Golf Course. This means that the irrigation system, periphery trail and greens can be renovated and 1,000 new trees planted. It took years and the dedication of so many. Thank you all. We are especially grateful to Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins, UNM Board of Regents President Jack Fortner, and UNM President Robert Frank. A special thank you also to Tim Davis [NCNA Vice President] whose vision saw this to fruition.
For the past 25 years, so many people have worked to protect the golf course. To each of you, I extend my deepest thanks. Thank you for your perserverence. Thank you for not turning back. This achievement belongs to each of you. Soon, we will have a celebration and tree planting, but for now, know that you have made a real difference for our community.
In gratitude,
Sara Koplik President, North Campus Neighborhood Association
